Change Initiative Frame
The Change Initiative Frame is a single-page canvas that captures everything a change team needs to stay aligned. It contains nine sections: Name (what we call this change), Horizon (timeframe and scope), Vision (the desired end state expressed as behaviors), Boundaries (what’s in scope and what’s explicitly out), Strategies (guiding policies and constraints), Success Measures (how we’ll know it’s working), People (the guiding coalition and stakeholder map), Actions & Agreements (next concrete steps and working agreements), and Obstacles & Risks (what could derail us and how we’ll mitigate it).
The frame is designed to be iterated, not finished. Each cycle of iterative strategy development produces an updated version: strategies get refined as measures come in, the people section shifts as the stakeholder map evolves, and obstacles get resolved or replaced by new ones. Treating the frame as a living document prevents the common failure mode where a strategy artifact gets created in a workshop and never looked at again. The frame is the team’s shared working memory for the change.
