Out of the Crisis
W. Edwards Deming’s foundational work argues that quality problems are system problems, not people problems. His insistence on understanding variation, driving out fear, and managing by method rather than by results underpins the By What Method principle we use constantly. Deming’s systems thinking also laid the groundwork for modern flow-based approaches to software delivery and continuous improvement.
